SPECIAL ABILITIES

Luminous (Su)

A glitch faerie naturally sheds light equal to that provided by a torch. A glitch faerie can control the color and intensity of the light as a swift action, reducing it to the dimness of a candle or even extinguishing its luminosity entirely if it wishes.

Glitch (Su)

All creatures within 10 feet of the glitch faerie are exposed to a constant antimagic effect (as the spell antimagic field). Also, creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls while within this aura as well (roll two dice, and take the worst result).  Also, as a standard action, an glitch faerie may place a curse on a creature within 30 feet to sabotage its technological devices. The creature may resist this effect with a successful DC 13 Will save. On a failed save, the next time the creature uses or activates a technological device, it triggers a glitch, whether or not the device is timeworn.

ECOLOGY

Environment technological ruins or similar environments
Organization solitary, pair, troop (3-6), band (7-14), or tribe (15-40)
Treasure standard (short sword, flare gun, other treasure)

Glitch faeries congregate in digital networks and virtual realms, dedicated to protecting the integrity of these environments. Whole tribes of glitch faeries appoint themselves as guardians of specific users, systems, or data points, even if the entities in question do not desire or require protection.

A glitch faerie’s form is inherently radiant, with the ability to adjust its hue and luminosity at will. Upon expiration, a glitch faerie’s body disintegrates into a cascade of sparkling pixels. These faeries are among the smallest digital entities, standing just over 9 inches in height and rarely weighing more than 1 or 2 pounds.

Glitch faeries are more rudimentary in many aspects compared to other digital entities. They enjoy socializing within their own kind but are typically wary of other entities. They assume that any unfamiliar programs or users they haven’t specifically chosen to safeguard intend to cause them harm. Even automated processes are often seen as threats. This paranoia is largely due to their tiny size, making them prime targets for malicious attacks. Consequently, a glitch faerie’s initial reaction to danger is to retreat, using its special abilities to delay or confuse pursuers, relying on its flight speed and diminutive size to ultimately evade capture.

Although glitch faeries are relatively primitive and untamed, they possess a strong curiosity for anything related to digital magic. They are particularly attracted to sites of great but dormant computational power, such as abandoned data centers. This curiosity makes them ideal candidates for roles as digital assistants or companions. A 5th-level chaotic neutral technomancer with the Improved Familiar feat can acquire a glitch faerie as a familiar.
